Rainforest Cafe: (watch out for the alligator)

Giant saltwater fish tanks, thick jungle canopy, and tropical storms are just a few of the things you're going to find at the Rainforest Cafe Mall of America. The entire restaurant is meant to make you feel as if you're really in the Rainforest, and in my opinion the food almost takes a backseat too everything else that's going on around you.

At the Rainforest Cafe restaurant you can experience a tropical storm without getting wet. Every 30 minutes you'll be treated to a brilliant storm like light show with thunder, and mist which I feel is really the best part about eating here. Kids also find this spectacular display very entertaining. While the food at the Rainforest Cafe is good, it's a little on the expensive side. A hamburger will run you about $9.00, and fries are Extra!

Then again you're not just paying for the food but the whole Rainforest atmosphere. At the bar you can pull up a animal print stool, and have a seat under the mushroom canopy. Here you'll find delicious smoothies (with or without alcohol) made from tropical juices, a coffee bar, and a variety of other drinks. I wouldn't necessarily call the Rainforest Cafe a tourist trap, but they do make souvenirs very accessible with the gift shop in the middle of the restaurant.

That being said the Rainforest Cafe gift shop does have a lot of nice items, and a percentage of every sale goes towards helping the Rainforest. If you’re looking for a quiet meal, and gourmet food you should pass on the Rainforest Cafe. If it's family entertainment you want then this is the perfect spot, but plan ahead this place is always crowded.
